My head is full of lists and logistics for the coming week. There is just a week to go now before my residency exhibition in the lighthouse at Spurn. Most of the work is finished: I’ve spent the week stitching into Spurn Cloth #1; prints are back from the framers; cards and postcards are made; the book is with the printer; my interpretation film is complete and equipment arrived…
There is still a whole list of things to do but I can’t wait now to get over there on Monday and spend time putting my work in the space it was made for and about.
I spent last weekend at my lighthouse, testing out work in the various spaces; getting to know the spaces in a different way. My dialogue with the building took on a new vocabulary.
Photographing my latest little woven square (one of my residency beach walk weavings) in bright sunshine gave some beautiful shadows. We have the most glorious hot weather with clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine. It won’t last but it is wonderful while it does.
Welcome to my new studio! At least it is mine for the time I am at Spurn. I’ve made myself quite at home today and the 5 flights of stairs to the top are going to keep me fit! Find out more over here.
