Tide Marks in London

Tide Marks flyer small

I will be in London next week with the final showing for Tide Marks this year. In addition to the opening hours shown above there will be a poetry reading on Thursday 25th at 6pm. This will be by Nigel Morgan, who wrote the beautiful poems for my Tide Marks book. It will be great to have the poems read amongst the work that they sit alongside on the page. Do come along if you’re able to. I will be in the gallery all week.

group gathering

What happens when 10 artists are each given a vintage shirt collar as a starting point to an artwork? If you are any where near Ledbury, Herefordshire this Saturday or until 19th July do go along to the Shell House Gallery and find out. As well as the collar pieces there will be work for sale by the participating artists. You can find out about all the artists here.  If you like words too Ledbury Poetry Festival is on during part of the exhibition period.

Eyes in the feet
Wherever, whenever,
Pocketed, brought home,
Shaped under tea’s chemistry
Left on paper sketchbook thin
Enough to register on both sides
Where the roller has marked,
Capriciously, a backdrop
Always different, pavement grey,
Mottled, complex as storm clouds
on a winter sky. Then, the stitch.
Marks of a bird’s foot
Perfectly pricked
On the footpath’s mud,
We crouched close to view
In the last light of this fading year

the beach

Now this westerley’s

blown itself out,

let’s drive to the storm beach.

A few brave souls

will be there already,

eyeing the driftwood,

the heaps of frayed

blue polyprop rope,

cut loose, thrown back at us –

What a species –

still working the same

curved bay, all of us

hoping for the marvellous,

all hankering for a changed life.
