A series of 4 sessions delivered live over Zoom and spread over the winter months between December and March.
Winter 2023-24 sessions are now available to book here
The focus for the workshop series will be on appreciating and discovering potential in your own local area, establishing a practice that embraces seasonality and local engagement. Topics covered include: natural dyes and ink making; recording ‘place’ in different ways; use of text, print and mark-making; use of hand stitch and engagement with gathered materials. There will be an emphasis on engaging with the techniques in a way that is right for the individual and for the different locations of students. Each session includes practical instruction as well as group sharing and has a focus on finding creativity during the winter.
Testimonials
“I think you created a course that had a wonderful sense of a journey and response to place. Your sharing of your practice was open and inspiring and allowed us to explore and experiment techniques as well as ideas.
“A hugely enjoyable course and has helped me in so many ways getting through lockdown. It has also encouraged me to see ‘place’ in a very different way and feel more connected to where I live. Thank you”
“I loved the course and while I did not know what to expect I found it so helpful, encouraging and ultimately creatively nourishing. It allowed each individual participant to work independently in their own manner and in their own environment.”
“Having the sessions a month apart was ideal. Enough to keep my interest and also enough time to work with slow processes such as dyeing with plants and exploring the environment.”
